Anatomy Series 2

Documentary > 3 x 30 minute series > HD > In Development

Anatomy 2 Following the success of the first series, we are now developing Anatomy Series 2, three documentaries which explore the ways artists/performers deal with the subject of sex and the human body. As in the first series, these films are thematically linked but are also a complete story in themselves. Each episode is (variously) funny, playful, confronting and/or moving. Like the first series, the second series of Anatomy, continues to give us an insight into how sexuality and the body work as driving forces in the creative process.

The second series of Anatomy, however, has a stronger thematic integrity as each episode deals (quite differently) with the central theme of identity. The series looks at how artists tackle questions about gender identity (MIND), sexual identity (FACE) and racial identity (EYE) within their divergent artistic practice.

Episode 1 MIND (directed by Emma Crimmings) is the captivating story of Tom Cho, a 34 year old Australian-Chinese Man. It is a film that explores identity and popular culture while also raising questions about the body, gender, sex and transformation.

Episode 2 EYE (directed by Andy Canny & Donna McCrum) is the story of photographer Bindi Cole’s next artistic project - an intriguing story that delves into a collection of minority world’s that most of us will never experience, asking a series of difficult overriding questions - how much is identity a matter of personal choice and how do each of our characters fit, or not fit, into the notion of an Aboriginal identity?

In Episode 3, FACE (directed by Adele Wilkes), a female filmmaker, who is working in the erotic film industry, admits her voyeuristic position behind the camera, and embarks on a challenge to experience the other side - exposing her most vulnerable moment to the public, for posterity.

As with the first series, Anatomy Series 2 will express these thematic preoccupations through narrative driven storytelling, with striking, original subject matter. Our ambition, as ever, is to move beyond the boundaries of traditional arts documentaries and cross over from arts audiences into broader general audiences.
