Parole

"Parole" is a new 13 x 1hour drama series for SBS which examines the uneasy and emotionally complex world of Community Corrections Officers (formally known as Parole Officers) and the parolees who are struggling to adjust to life outside prison. We’ve all seen TV shows about the crime. But what happens after the crime? How do people, accustomed to life in prison, adapt to the real world again?

Parole starts where other cop shows and courtroom dramas finish. Indeed a long way after. The drama of crime and police and the judiciary doesn’t end when a judge hands down a custodial sentence. It doesn’t even end once a prisoner has served time. The final act of their relationship with society comes when prisoners confront the small group of individuals who will decide their fate. Some make parole and some don’t. For those who do, there are conditions and expectations. And for many it is a tough road ahead.
